What an amazing day, it is hard to sum up really.

You think a wedding is going to be so hard to arrange, but Fred and his team really took all the pain out of it. From the first meeting everything was explained, nothing was to much trouble and they held our hand every step of the way.

When it came to the actual wedding day we were handed over to our actual team that would run the day. Meeting them all the evening before the actual wedding day was lovely extra I was not expected. A charming guy called Dominic ran our actual day, and once again he was so accommodating, professional, charming and just everything you would expect.

The day ran so smoothly, I would not have changed a thing.

Thank you guys for the most special day of our lives. I simply can not recommend you more!

Wonderful hotel, grounds and service

It was a delightful experience staying at this hotel, the service was great, staff were very helpful and couldn't do enough for us. They helped us settle in with our dog (unfortunately they will not be allowing pets from January due to further refurbishments), told us about local walks, the walk along the canal behind the hotel is all pathed and suitable for anyone including those with prams. The breakfast was really good and made to order. There was a wedding going on at the time and a wonderful fireworks display on our last night.

The hotel lobby area as well as the rest of the hotel is full of character. It was by chance that we stayed here as we had a dog, the other 24 members of our group stayed in the Imperial Hotel in Stroud town centre and unfortunately had a horrible stay which ruined the family experience that we have every year at different locations this time each year. Well done Stonehouse Court, you made up for the dissapointment of the Imperial Hotel.

Wedding Breakfast & Reception

We had our wedding breakfast and evening reception at Stonehouse Court Hotel in early December having got married at a nearby church. We initially visited the hotel whilst looking at venues and although we hadn't got a prearranged appointment the hotel staff were very accommodating with Dominic making time to show us around.

Fred, the sales manager, was very helpful throughout the process particularly when we had to change the date of our wedding at relatively short notice. We had regular contact with Fred in the lead up to the wedding and met with him, Dominic and Molly the day before to run through the final plans.

On the day of the wedding we were looked after superbly by Dominic and Molly throughout the day. They were kind enough to meet us at the Church with a brolly and a glass of Pimms and had made sure the Caroline suite was set up just how we’d hoped. Dominic was regularly making sure we were happy with how things were going and never far away if we needed him.

The meal was lovely and piping hot. Everybody we spoke to commented on how enjoyable the food was and those with dietary requirements were suitably catered for too. The Caroline suite seated the 80 guests we had for the wedding breakfast comfortably and was perfect for the live band and 100 evening guests. As with the meal earlier in the day, everybody commented on how good the evening buffet was. Later in the evening when Dominic handed over to Fin who was equally as accommodating for the rest of the night.

We visited the hotel a number of times ahead of the wedding and found that the staff couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome and help us where needed. In particular Rita (reception) was very pleasant and we’re thankful for the help she gave to one of our elderly relatives who fell near to reception during the reception drinks.

Fantastic hotel

We stayed at the Stonehouse Court hotel in late August. The hotel had a big wedding reception on. We were allowed to bring our pet Beagle with us. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. Despite a very busy, wedding party, the room was very quiet. The food in the restaurant was exceptional. We sampled a la carte evening menu, retired to the lounge for a little drink and was pleasantly surprised by the selection of drinks. The hotel is in an ideal location for lovely walks by the canal. Would definitely recommend.

Superb architecture

We arrived in the early evening and a beautiful "real fire" was blazing away in the main lounge area. We checked in and trekked to our spacious room in the extension. The hotel is "dog friendly" and we met a lovely pointer. We decided to have our evening meal off site and went into Stroud before returning to Stonehouse which is quite well catered for. There are plenty of things to do within easy reach and there is a church, quite literally, "at the bottom of the garden". The building history is displayed and very interesting.

The breakfast was top notch, some other reviewers have not found this but our experience was first class. We had a sumptuous cooked breakfast with fresh brewed coffee and plenty of choice. There was a wait for the toaster but other than that we had no complaints. Our only negative in the stay was the car park. When we arrived, a Saturday evening, all the spaces adjacent to the main building were taken. We ventured into the overflow area which had large puddles following heavy rain, somewhat restricting the parking availability. Can't mark it down a full star for this, but it did detract from the otherwise idyllic setting.

Impressed with the new look. Beautiful modern lighting and furnishings

Attended the opening evening of the new brasserie at Stonehouse court hotel. We were so impressed with the new look. Beautiful modern lighting and furnishings. The staff were so attentive. They were helpful, polite and professional . The brasserie was busy and yet there were staff on hand all evening.

The new menu was very impressive and both my husband and I were delighted with our menu choices. The food was delicious. Looked great, tasted amazing. The atmosphere in the brasserie was lovely. People of all ages with children also. We were so impressed with tonight that we will certainly recommend to all our family and friends and the fact that we ourselves don't live too far away means that a return visit is likely very soon. Well done Stonehouse court. We wish you well.x

Lovely 'manor house' atmosphere

What a pleasure it was to stay for 2 nights at the Stonehouse Court Hotel. The place has lovely 'manor house' atmosphere, with a large open fireplace in the reception. How many modern, bland hotels can boast that these days? The staff were friendly and attentive too.

I had a meal in the restaurant with my daughter and was surprised by the imaginative dishes on the menu - and unusually for a hotel restaurant - reasonable pricing too. The food arrived in good time, and was very enjoyable. Likewise, at breakfast, a very nice choice of food, from a light continental to a full English.

I elected to stay in one of the newly refurbished '4 poster' rooms. It was beautifully appointed with all the usual amenities. The TV was even hooked up for Netflix and all the other online catch-up services, which I thought was a nice touch - especially as being a Formula 1 fan I wanted to watch the Channel 4 coverage of the qualifying session televised earlier in the day!

All in all, a very enjoyable stay at the Stonehouse Court and definitely somewhere I'll be staying again.

First class dining experience

I visited Stonehouse Court for a dinner with friends and I was just blown away. The food was outstanding and the staff who all seemed to be in sync with each other were attentive, polite and helpful when we asked for their recommendation. It's a first class dining experience, will definitely be back soon.

Great place, great location

We enjoyed our trip to the Cotswolds (a must see), plenty of places to see and walk. Get a hire car and use this 17th century hotel as a base you won't regret it. Stroll along the canal behind the hotel and take in a little history.

What a treat

My husband booked a stay here as a Christmas gift for me as he'd also booked tickets to see Lionel Richie in Gloucester. I was delighted when we arrived, the place is beautiful. We had booked the honeymoon suite and it exceeded all our expectations. The grounds to the hotel are stunning and you can stroll along the canal or catch a narrow boat at the end of the garden.

The service was great, staff couldn't do enough for us despite there being a fete and a large christening party the day we arrived. The breakfast was cooked to order and whilst I was initially disappointed it wasn't a hot buffet, my smoked salmon and poached eggs were delicious!

Highly recommended!

Rod Stewart Tribute Night

We stayed for the eve and had a fantastic time. Staff were more than helpful and very polite and professional. Marion in particular paid attention to detail and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious, catering for my intolerance. The staff were attentive. Marion led the way with the staff and the service was smart and elegant. The whole experience was great. I would recommend staying here or just going for a meal. Looking forward to going back again soon.

Little Gem

I got a voucher deal on this hotel as a pick me up after xmas. Its a little gem. We were allocated room 32, a garden room which we paid and extra £5 per night for. The views were lovely, the gardens overlooking the canal then the rolling hills and countryside beyond. Our room was a good size with a very large bathroom which is always a bonus. Bed linen Egyptian Cotton and huge white fluffy bath towels were lovely to wrap up in after a good soak.

Breakfast on the first morning a little slow, but the staff were very attentive and informed us that the chef was a little slow, cooked breakfast arrived and was lovely. The following day it seemed the chef had changed gear and breakfast was much quicker and beautifully cooked. The chambermaid was a lovely lady, who showed us into our room and gave us lots of local information. Each member of staff engaged in conversation and not just a glance. Would definitely return, maybe in the summer as we fought with the gales all weekend and it would have been lovely to walk further than the tow path.

Chased away the January blues

A beautiful setting for a beautiful hotel. Can't fault our stay, fantastic service, fantastic food, lovely room with everything you need and if it isn't there call reception ask and it soon will be ! Stayed in the main house for a supplement (hardly any extra) so worth it, was gorgeous and the huge log fires with original features everywhere were beautiful.

Lovely break that was needed to cheer things up. No need to leave the hotel really if you don't want to, room service was great, menu was varied and reasonable. I'm a fussy eater and had choices ! Loved the stay and can't wait to go back and see the new building mid year. Well done to all at The Stonehouse Court Hotel ! Lovely stay thank you.
